About this app

- BETA VERSION -

Welcome to the beta program for Microsoft SwiftKey Keyboard - here you can test early performance updates, new unreleased features, customizations, and special themes. Thanks for helping us make Microsoft SwiftKey the best it can be!

The Microsoft SwiftKey beta app for Android will not replace the regular Microsoft SwiftKey app on your phone, but will be downloaded as a second app so you can switch between the two for comparison.

Beta Expectations

Features in the beta app are in active development and might not work perfectly or ever be released to the main Microsoft SwiftKey app.

I have used this app for many years and liked it, but sometime in the last few months, the predictions have gotten awful. The context stuff bothers me less, but it's suggesting misspelled words and gibberish the majority of the time. I used to be able to check spellings via the predictions, but now I have to look up words like it's twenty years ago. Technology is supposed to get better, not worse. If it doesn't improve soon, I'm ditching it.

It beats any other keyboard in raw correction capability. But in the flip side it's very bloated, with too many functions that ought to be separate apps not part of a keyboard. Still, it's extremely good overall. One particular annoyance is that you can turn off the auto-space after punctuation and after flow, but not after regular prediction/correction inserts from the bar. So weird, wish there were an option to just not auto-space at all.

I loved the Copilot integration and voice-to-text feature. However, the voice-to-text needs a little bit of work as it gets stuck sometimes. Also, the Copilot specially the tones mode does not work completely in Instagram comments and similar places where you are commenting. Overall, I like it and have been using it for several months now.
